just to prove that knitting does happen, this was an accidental project when I knew i had one hour of meeting and 4 hours of airport/flying time on tuesday - the clapotis I was planning to take was at my house, but there was a whole 20 yards of yarn to be knit, and the rest of the balls were at D's house... *sigh*

Christmas stuff all done! - Yeah!

with an accidental additional Jayne hat for a friends son, who ended up working in chicago this year, after 18 years learning to be a california beach bum!

Monday is starting slowly...

So a couple of photos to prove I still have things on the needles *grin*

I cast this on on friday, 3 strands of frog tree sport alpaca, pattern is Lady Eleanor, this is going to be *huge* and *warm* - and I have discovered I'm either allergic to alpaca (which is what I am fearing) or to something in the processing, I itch - but it is turning out so beautifully I can't stop! - frogged back one line of squares last night, as I discovered that I can't necessarily count and watch tv perfectly. Oh - and this was my first attempt at knitting back rather than turning and purling, at this point I am not turning the work at all, just charging back and forth - yeah!!!

This I cast on a couple of weeks ago, and charged through, Dreams in Colour is wonderful to work with! - It was made up as I went along, and is sufficiently comfortable and functional that I am going to do another with minor mods, which may make it as far as the writing down phase!

Life improved some, hopefully I will post more regularly from here out.

sorry about the lack of updates

my world seems to be suffering from an overdose of unwelcome reality. I've been knitting furiously to avoid thinking, but nothing is making it to the picture stage...

hopefully I might get inspired to log what is done and undone soon, also now an twistle on ravelry, so another place to confuse myself, maybe I'll go catalogue all my needles or something nicely mindless.

ohh - and I discovered something which will make me swatch...

A pattern idea, in a wrong gauge, in a wrong size, needing lots of cashmere.... but I'm in love, details later...

What happened when I looked in my stash...

Well - you see - these snuck out to get me - so some of the odessa's are going to be fingerless mitts instead - but I still should have plenty for hats too... and just because
this is what the insidses look like! (yeah - I compulsively weave ends, kinda my own home-brew of two colours, both hands and some swearing, it's been 10 years since I did it last!)

more progress on clapotis

a couple of FO's - then back to the work thing...

Meg Swansen's Mananita Magic from here
from Dryope - actually considerably more orange in person, but I could either show stitches, or good colour *sigh* - need more photo practice...

And..

I still didn't manage to take a picture of the finished felted bag... *sigh* again

very quick post...

my world is full!

I was looking at odessa (bless you Grumperina!) and my stash yelled at me - I have 16 balls of cashmere which have been waiting for a home (I think I have been hatching them for maybe 10 years now), in shades from black through greys to cream (4 balls of each) - I think 2 balls will work for this - I have 8 hats waiting to be made for gifts! - all it needed was a trip to the bead store and wheeeee...

pictures etc tomorrow - I promise!

hmm... this is going to take practice...

So - I finished the bag, and felted it - but I forgot to take pictures in the intermediate stage of knitted but unfelted! - now I feel like an idiot! - It's at home on a combination of a bowl from the kitchen, and a bunch of socks, and my bedroom wastepaper basket, drying to the shape I want it, it came out very nicely even for my first ever attempt at felting, although I let the washing machine rinse it, which I think was a mistake, if I had gone ahead and rinsed it by hand that last inch of shrink wouldn't have happened...! - so - photo's when I get home, I promise.

Also sock continues being cheerful, and I started a new project, clapotis from knitty... in silk - I just hope it is going to behave when I start letting the ladders run - it occurred to me rather late last night that the silk may slide too easily... The yarn is Regal Silk handpainted, by Art Yarns, it's really nice to work with...

First post

Wow - first post ever on my nice shiny new blog...

I've been working on a couple of projects over the last week or so - both knitting, one of them from the Noni Pattern:

This is going to be the circular felted bag, and I'm already past halfway up the sides for much less effort than I guessed, and the cables are being somehow relaxing...

The other project is a pattern by a friend of mine, Valerie - and is a sock which is also growing well, the first heel is turned and the pattern seems to be behaving very nicely!

next project - find out how to link blogs... *grin*
